Well as I added to many pictures and text on my last digipak post I couldn't analyse some of the pop video's and some of the Album Cover's aren't the right order due to technological reasons, however this is just leading on from the post again all to do with digipak's.

The image above shows The XX's first album and the accompanying digipak. The colours are very effective as they are only black and white and this is impactful as it is so contrasting. The large X, which is the band logo has been placed everywhere to reinforce the franchise. The digipak is made up of four panels which is the standard amount for digipaks. One bit that particularly appeals to me is the cutaway section on the left where the insert booklet can be seen. I also like how the black is a matte colour and not gloss. Likewise the black and white styling fits in with the genre.This digipak can appeal to both males and females as they are both non gender specific.

This is Rihanna's digipak for 'LOUD'. It is a six-fold digipak and contains two CD's this is similar to my digipak template. What i like on Rihanna's album is the red and warm hues. Rihanna's red hair colour coincides with the floral rose theme she uses throughout, represented by the roses on the CD which are usually associated with the colour. Red also is a symbol of passion and love which is what a lot of her songs represent on the album. The close-up shots of Rihanna's face suggests she is the main feature of the album as the image dominates the front cover and her photos are present on the back and the middle pages of the digipak showing her importance. Her red hair and red lips also create the sense of love as looks quite seductive in her pictures which corresponds with the red theme and love.

These are the posters used in Rihanna's promotional package. She has kept the red theme was warm hues and the colour red, roses and used the same font for her texts. This creates cohesion and this means that she can easily be recognised and identified with by both professionals and the audience. On her second poster she has the iconic use of the letter 'R' which has been used on a previous album and therefore creates identification with her because of her brand.
This is Rihanna's promotional video for her album 'LOUD'. She has clips from her one of her latest videos 'Only Girl in the World' which itself has the red and pink theme with flowers. It highly anticipates the release of the album especially since Rihanna has already released two hit songs which are 'Only Girl in the World' and 'What's My Name' that are featured on the album. This video ties in perfectly with the album cover, Music videos and the posters as they all keep the floral theme, colour red and warm hues.

| Katy perry's Album is very suited to her pop audience brand, with the main inspiration coming from her 'Calfornia gurls' video which was very popular. The candy theme is present throughout with the cotton candy clouds, Doughnut and candy cane themed print on the CD'S, cakes and her being the queen of confectionery. Katy features a lot throughout the album showing she is very powerful and dominates throughout the album. The album is very unique also as it has never been seen to be done before. she is very sexualised however as on the cover she is naked laying amongst the clouds, and this sexualisation is similar to that in her 'California Gurls' video which therefore ties together. However I really like the idea of her digipak and album. |
