Sister Act 2!

Now I have watched Sister Act 2 so many times, I just love it for some reason. My favourite is the scene when they are preforming at the competition:

I just had to post it cause I love it so much! It also shows how great their lip syncing is, there is no fault to it (well any that I can see anyways) cause they didn't do it live.

Kate Nash!

Our group have racked through many songs in our brains to think of the perfect one for us... not too cheesy, not to bland, not to serious and not too funny... and we have agreed that Kate Nash's 'foundations' is perfect !

The lyrics are really sassy and quirky and we really think that it suits our group !

I haven't actually watched the music video in full before as I wanted to resist, so that our ideas are fresh and nothing similar to the original but completely our own.

I'm very excited to start the music video and hopefully over the holidays we will get some good holidays shots that we may be able to use.
We have already discussed as a group some ideas and we like the possibility of using a quarter split screen which we would mean we would have to use final cut instead of iMovie, which would be more complicated however, this has only been suggested and is not confirmed. I will keep you updated !

PRELIM!

Well its that prelim time when we all get together and make ourselves look like fools while attempting to copy a section of a music video!

I'm not a major fan of Lana Del Rey but the song 'Young and Beautiful' which she made for the film 'The Great Gratsby' ( which I must say was brilliant the cinematography was beautiful) is the only one I truly like of hers. So I thought... LETS REPLICATE ! and this is the result:

Here are the other prelims from our class:

So everyone cheers for all the laughs we have provided and making ourselves look like fishes !

Ravensbourne!

I had an amazing experience to Ravensbourne University and went on a 4 day summer course. There were 4 different skill sets you could take part in- Media, Graphics, Photography and Fashion. We were put into group's based on an era- 40's,50's, 60's, 70's, 80's or 90's and in each group contained several people of each of the skill sets.

I was part of the 60's and many of my friends from my school were in the same group, which was incredibly lucky! We had to focus on Britain in the 60's e.g Twiggy, The Beatles, James Bond etc. but there were a few US events that we used as they were extremely significant in History.
Fashion

The people who did fashion had to create a design and create a dress in 3 days based on a 60's theme. Our group took a slightly modern twist with the lace but never the less, it was quite 60's.

Photography
The photography students had an hour photo shoot where they had to take 60's themed photo's and had the other days to plan and practice.

Graphics
Graphics students had to create a title sequence and the graphics for the video.

Media (The one I did)
The first day we found out about the equipment and had a tour of the amazing media facilities they have at Ravensbourne University (next to the O2). The next day we started to plan what we were going to film in the TV studio at the Uni. We only had an hour in there so we had to have a storyboard and be prepared. We also started to film the process of the fashion students making the outfit and  the interviews, however we did not really get to edit it, only post production did. The only thing I didn't agree with is that there weren't any of the other interview footage of the other skills in the video which we recorded, only fashion was put in but to be fair we did only have 3 minutes for it and a minute for the fashion video we had to record showing off the dress (however still filmed in a 60's style). So not everything could be in it. But oh well, it was a brilliant experience and I would do it again. If you want to see the finished video, click on the link below:

We did originally want to have a modern 60's theme with Dubstep 60's music etc, but as this was a competition between the era's they said we would lose points if we had a modern twist so we changed our idea.

This was the original fashion video song:

Also, while we were there someone asked us we wanted to help star in their advert for their coursework (for Dr. Martens) and we had nothing to do and said yes!  So this is us in a very cringey advert !!

What did I just watch!

Now I'm all for outrageous music video's  Miley Cyrus is taking the biscuit ! Honestly, the song had potential (possibly) if the trashy, cliché 'We're so cool' music video wasn't played, and quite frankly made her look like a fool. Instead of losing her Disney sweetheart image with a mature song, she decides to go ALL out, shaking her butt, making out with a large Barbie doll and acting quite crudely!

Oh what a lovely sight Miley ! Showing your TRUE talents! -_-

What happened to Destiny Hope Cyrus who played the sweet innocent Hannah Montana. I know she's 20 now, but 20 doesn't mean start acting like this ! and I know all about living your life and 'YOLO' and that nonsense but why does she have to prove her self in this one video!
The good ol' days!

Now I'm no Major feminist but this video is portraying females as sex objects! referencing to "dancing like strippers"  basically. I think Emmeline Pankhurst is rolling in her grave, at this video. Here are some of the lyrics:

To my homegirls here with the big butts
Shaking it like we at a strip club
Remember only God can judge us
Forget the haters cause somebody loves ya
And everyone in line in the bathroom
Trying to get a line in the bathroom
We all so turnt up here
Getting turnt up yea yea

Where is the decency in any of those lyrics ?

The first thing I did after I sat through the whole 3:33 (btw what was that dance at 1:58?? more like a seizure) was comment:

(Ignore the Disneybaby27 I was like 12 when I made the account :S )

Maybe I'm exaggerating slightly. I am not going to lie the cinematography of it was good, the lighting was suited very well and even the lyrics matched the music video and after you've listened to the song quite a few time its actually very catchy (but I'm not a fan of the nasally voice). But Miley Cyrus (a.k.a Hannah Montanna) needs to remember she was an inspiration to little children for 5 years and those kids aren't just going to stop cause she makes a raunchy video, she should of made a more mature, serious video than this..

But of course different people have different judgements, maybe you will LOVE the video but for me its not made the cut and I don't think it ever will, sorry Miley.

Excitement!

So right now, I am SO excited to start the music A2 section. Media at AS was brilliant and enjoyable but I'm even more excited to do A2! I've looked up some video's and I already like a few :
