Rihanna- What Now... Illuminati ?

Now, there was a stage in my life (2010) where I did research about the Illuminati and I was genuinely TERRIFIED with the results I found, Especially with the fact I found that they 'apparently' track your IP address, find out where you live and kill you if they find you have Googled them. In hindsight, the dark room, the fact it was midnight and the point my bed is right next to the window in my room, most likely  contributed to the fear that night, because the next day I totally forgot about it. But the topic of the Illumanti and the Free Masons and New World order, is quite a scary and daunting conspiracy, and they apparently target media and in particular music artists, as music is a lot easier to stay in the mind than text.

You are probably wondering why I am writing of them and what this topic has to do with the music video, well, it will all be explained in the following paragraphs:

This is Rihanna's music video for What Now which has only recently come out and is a lot more appropriate than her last video (Pour it up)

Now I love this music video at the moment as it is just SO simple and I love how they sped up her dancing and then slow motioned it to get this really amazing effect.( from 0:49-0.56) I also love how its not In black and white but there is a high contrast of black and white with a grungy, whitewashed feel, with very specific lighting helping to contrast the black and the white. And I think our group could definitely recreate the speeding up and slow motion and to be honest the whole video as it is not that complicated it's mostly the editing techniques which makes it appear more complicated to film than it is.

On first watch I thought it was a very artist interpretation of someone who is going crazy over her feelings and the feeling of been trapped in an open space, and the white highlighted the blank thoughts she is feeling and the black accents were to highlight the darkness that was coming over her. When watching it for the second time, I thought she does look slightly possessed, maybe by her thoughts but when looking at the comments I got a COMPLETELY different viewpoints, A LOT of them banging on about the Illuminati. At the side a video popped up that I thought 'lets watch':

This lady goes into quite a lot of detail about the video and how it is part of the occult. I can see why people do believe in the Illuminati as all the signs in the video that she mention did have me thinking 'ooooh quite true' as I had never thought about it in that way.  But it led me to think:

Do directors of music video's go into THAT much detail in creating a music video, to control the mind
or
Do us as viewers, like we do in Literature with things such as poems, want to believe that they are so smart that they have thought of these things in so much detail, but really the meaning is very basic on the surface but we want to believe it has a much deeper meaning, for some unknown reason.

The second option is much easier to achieve as the audience do it without prompt and it leads me to think, our group does not need to have an intricate story line and go into that great detail about our music video, or that it won't look like a profession video because the audience will perceive it how they want and may go in a lot greater detail than we ever intended which is a reassuring thought. And our video can be very simply, Muay Thai boxing and a singer and let the viewers minds create what they want the meaning to be, which is what people do, and it does morph into ideas such as the Illumanti (which may be real but we don't know) and this is shown in the two videos, so we need to go as simple as possible to get the greatest impact.
